COUNTY INCREASE IN DOG LICENSE FEES
RECOF~ENDATION:
It ts recommended that the City Council adopt Resolutlon No. 87-104 as proposed
by the Orange County Department of Animal Control.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Tusttn currently contracts with the Orange County Department of
Animal Control for administration of animal licensing, inspection and
maintenance of animal shelter services. Since the County is directly
responsible for animal licensing services, it is the County who determines
necessary dog license fees. The dog license fees were last raised on July 12,
1986.
DISCUSSION:
On July 21, 1987, the Orange County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No.
87-1056 (Exhibit A) increasing dog license fees from $.50 to $ 2.00 each,
depending upon the type of license. The new fees will become effective on
October 1, 1987, and will be charged directly to dog owners; they will have no
fiscal impact on the City. This fee increase Is not related to the fee
increases processed last February (Resolution No. 87-19, attached).
CONCLUSION:
Pursuant to our contract with the County, it is now necessarey to adopt, by
resolution, the new dog license fees by reference to Board Resolution No.
87-1056.
