BACKGROUND: On September 8, 1987, the Tustin City Council authorized the advertisement of bids for the Jamboree Road improvements between the Santa Ana {I-5) freeway and Irvine Boulevard. As part of the effort to expedite this project, Staff recommended this bid advertisement based upon the assumption that the plans would be totally reviewed and approved by the three other public agencies having an interest in the project. These agencies are Caltrans, County of Orange, and the City of 1trine. To date, Staff has not been able to obtain approval of these agencies. The current schedule for the bid opening and bid award on this project is October 13, 1987 and October 19, 1987, respectfully. DISCUSSION: Staff is proposing to defer the bid opening and award dates a period of two weeks as follows: Revised bid opening date ........ October 27, 1987 Revised bid award date .......... November 2, 1987 This would result in a delay of two to three weeks for the project start date, which would most likely be the end of November. It would not be in the best interest of the City/Assessment District No. 85-1 to proceed with the bid opening for this project until such time the approvals of Caltrans, County or Orange, and City of Tustin have been confirmed. It is requested that Exhibit "A", Notice to Contractors, dated September 8, 1987, be amended to desi§nate that "Sealed proposals will be received at the office of the City Clerk, Tustin City Hall, 300 Centennial Way, Tustin, California, 92680 until 10:00 A.M. on the 27th day of October, 1987, at which time they will be publicl~ opened and read, ~performin9 work as follows: .....
