AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SB821
SIDEWALKS AND WHEELCHAIR RAMPS PROJECT
RECOI~NDATZON:
That the City Council award a contract to B-1 Enterprise Corporation, Rancho
Cucamonga, in the amount of $39,162.50 and authorize Staff to eliminate nine
wheelchair ramps to meet the budgeted funds.
BACKGROUND:
This project encompasses construction of new sidewalks and 17 wheelchair ramps at
various locations throughout the City. This part is being financed with SB821
Funds in the amount of $32,000. In addition, included in this project is the
construction of curb and gutter return (at 3rd and "C" streets) which is being
financed with $1,800 from other City funds.
Four bids were received on September 29, 1987 and they are summarized as follows:
B-1 Enterprise Corporation, Rancho Cucamonga $39,162.50
Bruce Paving Company, Inc., Gardena $39,822.00
R.A. Snyder, Inc., Tustin $50,013.75
Nobest, Inc., Westminster $53,115.00
The low bid is $7,162.90, or 22.4%, over the Engineer's Estimate of $31,999.60.
The Engineering Staff will eliminate 9 out of 17 proposed wheelchair ramps to
meet the budget amount of $33,800. The low bidder concurs with this change.
