AWARD OF BID FOR THREE (3) PICK-UP TRucKs - FILE #484
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of December 2, 1985, to
authorize the purchase, of three (3) pick-up trucks (one with utility bed) from
Earnest Ford, Inc. of Orange for $36,632.02.
BACKGROUND:
The Tustin City Council authorized the replacement of three (3) 1/2 ton pick-ups
with three (3) 3/4 ton pick-ups with utility beds (Units 5601, 5622, 5626) from
the vehicle leasing fund when adopting the 1985-86 budget. The budget estimates
for these three (3) pick-ups was $39,900.00.
Before going out for bid, staff evaluated the changes in use of these three
pick-ups and determined that only one of the three pick-ups would require a
utility body.
Seven bid packages were mailed out; and, two bids were submitted. Bids were as
follows:
Joe MacPherson Chevrolet
Earnest Ford, Inc.
Irvine
Orange
$34,496.41 (Total)
$36,632.02 (Total)
Low bidder did not meet minimum specifications for the pick-up trucks nor did they
submit a complete specification for the utility bed for comparison. The
difference between low bid and second low bid is $2,135.61.
