SUBJECT: SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COUNCIL NOMINATION
RECOMMENDATION:
To nominate Evelynn Hershey as the League of California Cities Representative to
the County of Orange Senior Citizens Advisory Council, representing District
Five.
BACKGROUND:
Evelynn Hershey has been an active member of the Tustin community for the past
four years and an involved resident of Orange County since 1937. Currently she
is serving as the Assistant Director of American Association of Retired Persons,
supervising eight chapters in Orange County. Ms. Hershey has also been involved
volunteering for many of Tusttn's senior programs.
Staff strongly supports Evelynn's nomination; she is knowledgeable regarding the
issues and would do a fine job representing the seniors of Tustin. Her
background and involvement are strong support for her nomination.

I have been invitel to submit my name to be a voting member of
the Senior A,ivisory ~ouncil appointment after Jan. i, i95~.
i have been ar Orange county resident since 1937. i am retirs~,
66 years of age, good health and have my o~n transportation.
For the past three years I have served as Assistant State irector
for American Ass'n of Retired persons, supervising the activities
of the 8 chapters in O~range County. This has included forming
ne~ chapters, organizing and conducting semirmrs, health fairs,
neighborhood watches, and other safety ani health prog£ams.
This assignment has also included talking to outsiS, e groups on
legislation, housing, e:iucation, and e~o!oyment for ~omen and seniors.
I retired after over 30 years as a supervisor and ,iep. manayer for the
State of Calif. 2mployment-=v=loom~nt_ = ~epartment. , interacting ~ith
other agencies ~ithin the ~ounty.
I am also a member of the Tustin Area ,~oman's Club anl ~ienCs of
Tustin Library.
I feel that my background, education ani e×perience will enable me to
make a very positive contribution to the A~visory Council..
