UTILITY POLES (INFORMATIONAL MEMO) RECOMMENDATION:. Receive and file. BACKGROUND: The Southern California Edison Company has requested permission to place five (5) transmission utility poles and one (1) support pole along Newport Avenue, Walnut Avenue and McFadden Avenue as shown on the attached drawing. The poles on McFadden Avenue and Newport Avenue are proposed as steel poles while the remaining poles on McFadden Avenue are conventional wood poles. Section 750364 of the Tustin City Code (Underground Utility Districts) exempts poles and overhead wires used for transmission of electrical energy in excess of 34,500 volts from being undergrounded. The proposed poles and overhead wires will be utilized for transmission of 66,000 volts similar to the lines along Walnut Avenue easterly of Newport Avenue. These poles will be placed under the normal franchise conditions of the City.
