SUBJECT: CONTINUING PARTICIPATION IN THE COUNTY CO-OP PURCHASING PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of March 17, 1986, to
adopt the Resolution continuing participation in the County Co-Op Purchasing
Program.
BACKGROUND:
For several years, the City of Tustin has been a participant in the Orange County
Co-Op Purchasing Program. The Co-Op Purchasing Program allows the City to take
economic advantage of County bid prices for such things as materials, supplies,
equipment and services. In order to continue participation in this program, the
City must adopt the attached Resolution.

RESOLUTION NO. 86-39
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATION
IN THE COUNTY CO-OP PURCHASING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin and the County each in the conduct of its
separate affairs has the power and authority to purchase materials, supplies,
equipment, and repair and maintenance services; and
WHEREAS, it appears that if said powers were jointly exercised by the
City of Tustin and the County in certain of such purchases a significant
economy could be achieved; and
WHEREAS, it is permissible under Section 51301 et seq. of the
Government Code of the State of California to contract with the County to
perform certain functions for the City; and
WHEREAS, it is, therefore, the desire of the City of Tustin to
contract with the County for the County Purchasing Agent to purchase certain
items for the City of Tustin under the conditions hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tustin City Council that the
City of Tustin hereby agrees with the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Orange that the Purchasing Agent for the County shall purchase various
materials, supplies and/or services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, upon the approval of the terms of this
Resolution by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange, it shall
constitute a contract between the City of Tustin and the County of Orange,
which said contract shall commence on March 17, 1986, and shall terminate on
March 16, 1991.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, the City of Tustin reserves all rights
to continue purchasing on its own behalf and is not obligated in any way to
solely purchase or purchase at all through the County of Orange Purchasing
Agent.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Tustin,
California, this 17th day of March, 1986.
