BACKSTOP, DUGOUTS, AND SIDE FENCING.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of March 17, 1986, award the

the amount of $11,800.
BACKGROUND:
In February of 1986, the City Council authorized the advertisement of bids for
the renovation of Columbus Tusttn Athletic Field #4 which would include
replacement of the backstop, dugouts, and side fencing. The construction of this
project will be funded by State Grant Funds and will be coordinated with the
athletic field lighting construction.
DISCUSSION:
Bids for subject project were opened on February 20, 1986, at 10:00 a.m. and
were received as follows:
The Wakefield Company, Irvine
......... $11,800
This was the only bid received but was below the estimated cost of $12,000.
Three cities were contacted for references; Newport Beach, Los Alamttos, and
Paramount. Each of those contacted had worked with the Wakefield Company on
projects similar to ours. In each case, the Wakefield Company received high
praise on the prompt and thorough installation. The company was commended for
using only high quality materials; all of the structures installed have worn
extremely well.
