AWARD OF BID FOR COLUMBUS TUSTIN ATHLETIC FIELD LIGHTING
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tusttn City Council, at their meeting of March 17, 1986, award the
contract for subject lighting project to David-Richards Construction of San
Bernardino in the amount of $88,712.
BACKGROUND:
In January of 1986, the City Council authorized the advertisement for bids for
the Columbus Tustin Athletic Fields Numbers 3 and 4. This project will be
entirely funded by the 1985 Regional Competitive Grant Program from the State of
California.
DISCUSSION:
Bids for the subject project were opened on February 18, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. and
were received as follows:
David-Richards Construction ........................... $88,712.
This was the only bid received and was about 11% below the design consultant's
estimated project cost of $99,150.
Musco Lighting, the design consultant, has worked with David-Richards
Construction on several lighting projects and feels that they are a reputable
company and have many quality projects to their credit. Attached is a copy of
four job references. Staff has contacted the references and all were very
pleased with the quality of service received.
