Huston, City Manager Community Services Department AWARD OF BID FOR COLUMBUS TUSTIN ATHLETIC FIELD LIGHTING RECOMMENDATION: That the Tusttn City Council, at their meeting of March 17, 1986, award the contract for subject lighting project to David-Richards Construction of San Bernardino in the amount of $88,712. BACKGROUND: In January of 1986, the City Council authorized the advertisement for bids for the Columbus Tustin Athletic Fields Numbers 3 and 4. This project will be entirely funded by the 1985 Regional Competitive Grant Program from the State of California. DISCUSSION: Bids for the subject project were opened on February 18, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. and were received as follows: David-Richards Construction ........................... $88,712. This was the only bid received and was about 11% below the design consultant's estimated project cost of $99,150. Musco Lighting, the design consultant, has worked with David-Richards Construction on several lighting projects and feels that they are a reputable company and have many quality projects to their credit. Attached is a copy of four job references. Staff has contacted the references and all were very pleased with the quality of service received. Susan M.
