FROM:
,SUBJECT:
WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
BOB LEDENDECKER, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER
ESTABLISHMENT OF PUBLIC HEARING DATE FOR A STREET NAME CHANGE FROM
JAMBOREE ROAD TO TUSTIN RANCH ROAD
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tusttn City Council, at their meeting of April 7, 1986, adopt the
attached Resolution of Intention to conduct a public hearing to determine whether
or not to change the designation of Jamboree Road, between the Atchison Topeka and
Santa Fe (A.T. & S.F.) Railroad right of way and Bryan Avenue, to Tustin Ranch
Road.
BACKGROUND: ''
Previous discussions have taken place regarding the need to change the street
currently designated as Jamboree Road within Tustin City limits to another name so
as to avoid confusion with the street designated as Jamboree Road within the city
of Irvine. Jamboree Road within Irvine is located just easterly of the Marine-
Base in the vicinity of Barranca Road. Jamboree Road within Tustin lies between
the Irvine Industrial Complex and the Laurelwood and Peppertree residential
developments. These two roads named Jamboree are not intended to be
interconnected.
The recent completion and adoption of the East Tustin Specific Plan has been
around the theme of the Tustin Ranch. Conversations with The Irvine Company have
indicated they desire the new name to be designated as Tustin Ranch Road. Staff
is in accord with this requested designation as it relates to the proposed East
Tustin developments.
The City Council is authorized, pursuant to Government Code Section 34091.1, to
change the existing name of a City street whenever the Council finds that the name
should be changed. In order to implement a change of street name, the City
Council should proceed as follows:
1. A public hearing relative to the name change of Jamboree Road, between
the A.T. & S.F. Railroad right of way and Bryan Avenue, to Tustin Ranch
Road should be authorized. .
A public hearing should be duly noticed and held relative to this street
name change. After consideration of testimony at the public hearing, the
City Council should determine whether or not to change the designation of
Jamboree Road, between the A.T. & S.F. Railroad right of way and Bryan
Avenue, to Tustin Ranch Road.

3. In the event the Council resolves to change the street name, the City
Clerk shall promptly forward a copy of the Resolution providing for the
change of name to the Board of Supervisors of the, County of Orange.
DISCUSSION:
The attached Resolution declares the City Council's intention to conduct a public
hearing to determine whether or not to change the street name designation of
Jamboree Road to Tustin Ranch Road between the A.T. & S.F. Railroad right of way
and Bryan Avenue. This Resolution also establishes the public hearing time and
date to be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May $, 1986.
The roadway does not exist in a paved state between the A.T. & S.F. Railroad right
of way and the Santa Aha Freeway and consequently has no parcels either addressed
or requiring access to that segment of roadway. The portion of roadway between
the Santa Aha Freeway and Bryan Avenue has been constructed/paved to its ultimate
required width and has no parcels either addresed or requiring access to that
segment of roadway.
It is requested that the Tustin City Council adopt the attached Resolution which
will initiate the proceedings for the requested name change of Jamboree Road to
Tusttn Ranch Road.
