BACKGROUND: Currently there are two roadways designated as Myford-Road. One of these roads, the most easterly road, lies partially within the City of. Irvine, the County of Orange andCtty of Tustin and extends northerly from Walnut Avenue to Irvine Boulevard. The second road lies entirely within Tustin along the easterly boundary of the Industrial Complex between Dow'Avenue on the south and Michelle Drive on the. north. A portion of the Myford Roadway Within the City of Irvine is currently under construction and will soon provide a continuous roadway between Irvine Boulevard and Moulton Parkway. Additionally, it is planned to continue this roadway southerly, through MCAS Tustin and to make a direct connection to existing Jamboree Road at the Barranca Road intersection. DISCUSSION: Staff is proposing that the segment of Myford Road extending from Irvine Boulevard southerly to Moulton Parkway be renamed to Jamboree Boulevard at the earliest practical date; and, as the new road is constructed through MCAS-Tustin, that it also be designated as Jamboree Boulevard. This would provide a continuous roadway with one name between Pacific Coast Highway and Irvtne Boulevard. That portion of roadway adjacent to the Laurelwood and Peppertree residential areas and northerly of the Santa Aha Freeway currently named Jamboree Road is proposed to be changed to Tustin Ranch Road. The portion of Myford Road within Tustln and between Dow Avenue and Michelle Drive is proposed to remain Myford Road. These changes Will hopefully eliminate duplication and confusion to the residents and future business persons within the County, Irvine and Tustin. The proposed name change action will require input and coordination from the City of Irvine, County of Orange and The Irvine Company. The Company has already suggested the change from Myford Road to Jamboree Boulevard on that segment of them roadway between the Santa Aha Freeway and Irvine Boulevard. MARCH 28, 1986 PAGE 2 It is suggested that staff proceed to communicate with all affected agencies and potentially affected property owners to determine their responses to the proposed changes and report back to the City Council at the earliest practical date.
