WICK, ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND SAFETY LIGHTING AT THE INTERSECTION OF MOULTON PARKWAY AND MYFORD ROAD RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of April 7, 1986, award the contract for subject project to Paxin Electric Inc. of Lancaster, California in the amount of $95,212.00. BACKGROUND: This project enco~asses construction of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Moulton Parkway and Myford Road in anticipation of traffic volumes which will be generated when Myford Road between Moulton and the Santa Ana Freeway is opened up (estimated by May 1, 1986). Due to the fact this project will not be complete by May 1, 1986, temporary three-way stops will be provided in the interim. Sealed bids for this work were opened at 10:00 a.m. on March 28, 1986 and were received as follows: Contractor Business Location Bid Paxin Electric Inc. Steiny and Con, any Inc. Lancaster, CA Fullerton, CA Brea, CA Temucula, CA 95,212.00 98,700.00 105,900.00 123,545.00 The low bid is $10,788.00 or 10.15% below the engineer's estimate of $106,300.00. The City Council, at theirlmeeting of December 2, 1985, appropriated $93,500.00 for this project. Award of this contract will require an additional appropriation in the F.Y.
