COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT NO. 086-068
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of April 21, 1986, authorize the
Mayor to execute Agreement No. D86-068 on behalf of the City and authorize a
supplemental budget appropriation within the Water Enterprise Fund in the amount
of $8,100.00 to fund said work under this'Agreement.
BACKGROUND:
The County of Orange Environmental Management Agency will be awarding a third
contract for the "Resurfacing of Various Streets" within the unincorporated area
adjacent to the City of Tustin. The Tustin Water Service has various mainline
distribution facilities within the street rights-of-way where County road work
will be performed. These facilities are located within County streets under
franchise regulations, wherein the utility company/agency is responsible for any
work related to its own facilities.
In order to adjust the water valve boxes to the new street grades with the street
resurfacing contracts, the County has requested the City to enter into an
agreement which has provisions for the City to reimburse the County for said work.
The adjustment of the water valve boxes to finish street grade is required so that
full-time access is available to the City to the mainline gate valves in the event
a routine or emergency shutdown of the water lines is required.
In early March, 1986, the City Council approved two other Agreements in the amount
of $11,423.00 for similar work. The County has informed staff that this is the
final street resurfacing contract which would affect City Water facilities during
this current fiscal year.
DISCUSSION:
The attached Agreement pertains to forty six locations requiring water valve boxes
to be adjusted at an estimated cost of $8,096.00. The final cost of this work
will be computed on actual bid prices resulting from the County's competitive
bidding procedures for Public Works projects.
