VEHICULAR ACCESS RIGHTS ALONG SYCAMORE AVENUE BETl~EEN PASADENA AVENUE
AND NEWPORT AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of January 7, lg85, pass
and adopt the attached Resolution stating the city's intention to enforce and
retain access rights along Sycamore Avenue between Pasadena Avenue and Newport
Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
Staff has been negotiating with CalTrans to have them relinquish the section of
State right-of-way along Sycamore Avenue between Pasadena Avenue and Newport
Avenue, to the city, in order to permit the city to construct a traffic signal at
the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Newport Avenue utilizing a signal
controller which is compatible with our interconnect system.
As indicated in the attached correspondence, CalTrans requires that the city adopt
a Resolution insuring its intention to retain vehicular access rights. At this
particular location all existing lots adjacent to Sycamore have frontage and
access off of other streets, thus no hardships will be created~

Subject: Relinquishment No. 1084
Newport Boulevard at Sycamore
Dear Mr. Richards,
As we discussed on 12/20/84, this is a request to have
the City of Tus=in provide the State with a City Council
Resolution stating specifically that the city will retain
and enforce the existing access restrictions along the
section of State R/W proposed to be relinquished to the City
with Relinquishment No. 1084.
To expedite matters, we intend to place the
relinquishment resolution on the California Transportation
Commission's January agenda, but the action cannot be
consummated without the City Council Resolution. Therefore
it is imperative that this matter be given your early
attention. If there are any questions regarding this
matter, please call me at 213-620-2166.
Sincerely,
