BACKGROUND: Staff has been negotiating with CalTrans to have them relinquish the section of State right-of-way along Sycamore Avenue between Pasadena Avenue and Newport Avenue, to the city, in order to permit the city to construct a traffic signal at the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Newport Avenue utilizing a signal controller which is compatible with our interconnect system. As indicated in the attached correspondence, CalTrans requires that the city adopt a Resolution insuring its intention to retain vehicular access rights. At this particular location all existing lots adjacent to Sycamore have frontage and access off of other streets, thus no hardships will be created~ Dale A.
