HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1960 10 03 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 3RD, 1960 Meeting called to order by the Mayor at 7:35 P. M. PRESENT: Kidd, Humeston, Byrd, Sheriden, Mack. ABSENT: None. CITY ENGINEER: Present CITY ATTORNEY: Present Moved by Councilman Mack, seconded by Council- man Byrd, that Minutes of Regular Meeting of September 19th and Special Hearing of September 30th, be approved as presented. Motion carried. CHECK FOR Moved by Councilman Sheridan, seconded by Council- HIGHWAY man Mack, that a check for $25.00 be sent to State PATROL Highway Patrol "405 Club", in appreciation of the Highway Patrols assistance during Tustin Tiller Days. Motion carried. GREENWOOD Moved by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman & POLLARD man Mack that plans and specifications submitted SPECIFICA- by Charles Greenwood and John Pollard, for the TIONS FOR widening and improvement of East First St. to E. FIRST primary highway standards and the improvement APPROVED of "H" Street to city standards be approved and the City Engineer is hereby authorized to resur- face existing 18 foot width pavement on "H" Street with 3" width of Plant Mix not to exceed cost of $1000.00. Motion carried. DEED Moved by Councilman Sheridan, seconded by Council- ACCEPTED man Byrd, that Grant Deed of Charles F. Greenwood FROM and John E. Pollard be accepted. Motion carried. GEEENWOOD & POLLARD Moved by Councilman Humeston, seconded by Council- man Sheridan, that Petition for trees along Free- TREE way fence at T.Y.C. be received and turned over PETITION to the Park Commissioner for study. Motion FOR TYC carried. Moved by Councilman Sheridan, seconded by Council- man Mack, that the City Clerk write to H. Roger HOWELL Howell, granting permission to use the Council PERMISSION Chambers at 7:30 P. M., October 11th and that the FOR CHAM- Chambers hold a maximum of 40 people. Motion BER USE carried. Mayor Kidd appointed Mr. Sheridan, Mr. Hack MACK, Mr. Humeston an observation committee to attend HUMESTON said meeting. SHERRIDAN APP'T. Moved by Councilman Hack, seconded by Councilman 202 Sheriden, that copy of letter of request from LETTER TO Mr. Howell be forwarded to the Planning PLANNING Commission. Motion carried. Moved by Councilrnan Sheridan, seconded by PERMISSION Councilman Byrd, that permission be granted to TO SOLICIT the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Orange FOR County, to solicit funds in the City, December CEREBRAL 1, 1960. Motion carried. PALSY Moved by Councilman Mack, seconded by Councilman CURRIE Humeston, that communication from A. C. Currie, COMMUNICA- Ass't Superintendent of Tustin Elementary Schools TION be tuened over to the Street Superintendent, Police Department and City Engineer. Motion carried. Moved by Councilman Sheridan, seconded by Councilman Byrd, that correspondence be received and filed. Motion carried. Moved by Councilman Sheridan, seconded by Council- REGIONAL man Mack, that the City Clerk write to the Regional REAL ESTATE Real Estate Officer, regarding a parcel of ground on the south side of First St. having frontage of 100 feet on First St. to a depth of 175 feet, starting 460 feet west of the West line of "H" St. and extending west 100 feet, stating that the City of Tustin has no contemplated use for said parcel and has no objections at this time to proposed use as a Post Office. Motion carried. Weed. Motion carried. JONES Moved by Councilman Mack, seconded by Councilman VARIANCE Humeston, that Variance for Wm. R. Jones be referred to the Planning Commission. Motion carried. $8,500.00 Moved by Councilman Sheridan, seconded by Council- FOR SANI- man Humeston, that the City Attorney prepare a TATION Resolution, transferring $8,500.00 from General DEPARTMENT Reserve Fund to Sanitation Department, to be restricted for use of acquiring sewer line as · per terms of contract with the Revere House. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. SMITHWICK Moved by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman FOR TYC Humeston, that Mr. Smithwick be retained as JURISDICT- custodian of TYC on part-time basis, to serve ION OF at the pleasure of the Council. Motion carried. COUNCIL. Moved by Councilman Humeston, seconded by Council- INITIAL STEP man Mack, that the County Building Department be FOR TRANSFER contacted in regard to taking over the Tustin BLDG. DEP'T. Building Department. Motion carried. TO COUNTY MCLLELLEN Moved by Councilman Mack, seconded by AUTHORIZED Councilman Humeston, that the Clerk be authorized TO CHECK to employ Mr. Mc Lellan to check plans for Lar- PLANS win Square. FILING Moved by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Sheridan, OF INS. that Resolution No. 533, A resolution, authorizing filing CERTIF- of insurance Certificate and Endorsement forms in lieu ICATE. of posting surety bond as security for issuance of oversize-overweight permits, be adopted.
