TUSTIN TILLER DAYS STREET FAIR
Cherrill Webb Cady, Chairperson of the Tustin Tiller Days Committee, will
be addressing you at your March 18, 1985 meeting. Tustin Tiller Days
has made tremendous progress toward becoming a self-supporting annual
event during the last few years. This year, for the first time ever, the
committee feels that it is ready to organize Tiller Days without major
financial support from the City Council.
The move to Columbus-Tustin Park was very successful last year. The largest
crowd ever enjoyed a bigger and better fair. Cherrill Webb Cady will provide
you with additional details during her presentation and will be more than
happy to answer any questions you may have. The staff of the Community
Services Department is proud of the progress this group of volunteers has
made toward making Tiller Days a financial as well as an entertainment
success.
Tustin Tiller Days has become the focal point for our community each Fall.
Service groups, local businesses, entertainers, the City, school district
and Marine Corps have cooperated to make this a community event. The future
for Tiller Days seems to be very positive, the hard work and leadership
of the organizing committee will insure the events continued success.

Report for City Council on Tustin Tiller Days Street Fair:
This year I have not prepared a budget because I would like to try
a couple of new ideas.
1. I am hoping to get the Chamber of Commerce to work close with me
in putting Tustin Tiller Days together for two reasons. First, so that
possibly in the near future they can head the festival with the committee
helping, and second so that maybe we cam utilize some of their
resources in hel~ing to defray costs.
2. I would like letters to go out early, and see if Corporations such
as Coors, Coco-Cola, etc. will donate some of the funding.
3. With Bill Teter and City working together in setting up permanent
electrical outlets, the expense of cords and electricity should decrease.
4. I am looking into a couple of other carnival companies to see if we
can get any better deals on the childrens rides. We want to make sure that
they are all working the day of the festival. I figure we lost close to
$2000.00 by not having the train running during the three days.
5. I would like to see the parade end at Columbus Tustin Park, the same
as the 5K - iOK runs. I know that the police department is willing to
work with the J. C.'s in an effort to get it worked out. ( Especially
if they start working on it right now.)
6. We will keep the contests. For being a first year, they were self
supporting. My Chairperson has already started sending letters for donations
for all the prizes.
7. I am not going to ask for the $6000.00 up front for Tiller Days this year.
I would like to see if we can run strickly on what we generate from
donations, and space and booth rental. I would however, like the money in
reserve just in case we find the costs out-weigh the income.
If,~y~have oar further questions please feel free to call.
