SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE SWEEPER
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of March 18, 1985, to
authorize the purchase of an Athey, Mobil Model AHL-2 sweeper from Nixon-Egli
Equipment Company of Santa Fe Springs for $82,680.00.
BACKGROUND:
The Council authorized the replacement of a street sweeper from the equipment
leasing fund for an estimated cost of $95,000.00 when adopting the 1984-85 fiscal
budget. When issuing the bid package, staff extended the normal bid review period
from 30 days to 45 days so that field demonstrations could be observed. The field
demonstrations rendered the equipment to be essentially equal. Because of this,
staff contacted various agencies having experience and/or knowledge of each piece
of equipment and the manufacturer with respect to performance, dependability and
operating costs. As a result of these inquiries, staff feels the Mobil unit will
better satisfy the needs of the city at this time.
Bid results are as follows:
