REQUEST FOR TREE REMOVAL - 173 MOUNTAIN VIEW DRIVE
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of May 6, 1985, authorize the
removal of the Elm tree at 173 Mountain View Drive by city forces subject to its
replacement at the property owners expense for all labor, materials and tree.
BACKGROUND:
The property owners at 173 Mountain View Drive have requested that a street tree
at that address be removed to facilitate the move-on of a structure (house) to
that site.
In July, 1978, the City Council adopted a policy on tree removal and replacement
as follows:
Case
Case II -
Case III -
- Problem tree (city approved) causing present or future damage to
curbs and sidewalks.
City removes tree and replaces it with a 15 gallon size tree at
city expense.
Undesirable tree (city approved) due to extensive litter or other
problems.
City removes tree at city expense and replaces it at property
owners expense for labor, materials and tree.
Unapproved ~ree (not of a problem or desirable species).
City removal and replacement at full cost to property owner.
DISCUSSION:
In order to provide adequate access to the site for the move-on house it will be
necessary to remove one street tree, an Elm tree.
This tree removal appears to fall under Case II as referenced to other problems.
