TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
TUSTIN COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
FROM: BOB LEDENDECKER, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER
AWARD OF BID - PROVIDING AND INSTALLING LIGHTING FIXTURES WITHIN THE
CIVIC CENTER COMPLEX PARKING LOTS
SUBJECT:
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Tustin Community Redevelopment Agency, at their meeting
of June 17, 1985, award the contract for subject lighting improvements to Laubach
Electric of Garden Grove in the amount of $19,560.00.
BACKGROUND:
In May, 1985, the Agency authorized the advertisement of bids for the replacement
of the existing flourescent type lighting fixtures with a high pressure sodium
vapor fixture throughout the City Hall Complex parking lots.
These new energy saving lighting fixtures will provide more illumination with less
energy consumption which will result in lower electrical utility costs.
DISCUSSION:
Bids for the subject project were opened on June 11, 1985 at 10:00 a.m. and were
received as follows:
Laubach Electric, Garden Grove ........................ $19,910.00
Skips Electric, Fullerton ............................. 21,529.39
Roberts Electric, Tustin .............................. 28,347.40
The low bid if 43.9% below the engineer's estimate of $35,500.00.
Attached, for the Agency's information, is a tabulation of all bids received.
Bid Item No. 4 will be deleted due to a limitation in So. California Edison
Company's current funding availability for this type of energy saving project.
The bid amount will be reduced from $19,910.00 to $19,560.00, or a total of
$350.00.
