BACKGROUND: In April, 1985, the Police Department sponsored a clean-up campaign in the Kenyon Drive area. This campaign included on-site (private property) as well as the public right-of-way. As a part of this clean-up campaign, it was suggested that the Kenyon Drive be posted for restricted parking during the hours of street sweeping. The City Council had requested staff to not process any new requests for restricted parking during street sweeping operations until such time the Citywide Street Sweeping Study had been completed. This initial study has been completed and is on the August 5th agenda. Mr. Hart Fisher appeared at the last City Council meeting inquiring as to when the sign installation would be completed. DISCUSSION: The City has received letters of request from all ten property owners whose lots front on Kenyon Drive. As of this date, we have received no requests from the two properties who front on Newport Avenue at the corners, but have a sideyard fronting on Kenyon Drive. The requests in favor of the sign installations account for 83.8% of the total property owners. It is suggested that the parking prohibition be placed on the Kenyon Drive cul-de-sac westerly of Newport Avenue. The suggested signing for this parking prohibition would read as follows: No Parking 6:00 A.M. to Noon Thursday Street Sweeping Director of Public Works/City Engineer BL:jr SEC, 21, T. 5S., RgvK.
