NAULT, FINANCE DI~r~OR% INCREASE TO SOLID WASTE COLLBCTION FEES RECOMMENDATION Receive and file, DISCUSSION In accordance with Section 9, paragraph (e)(ii), "annual regular rate adjustment", of our existing agreement for collection and transportation of solid waste, the following increases have been authorized: Increase in residential pickup of $0.17 per unit per month. $3.62 to $3.79) Increase in the per unit billin9 rate of $0.15 per unit per month. (From $0.60 to $0.75) Increase in the commercial can service of $0.19 per unit per month. (From $4.13 to $4.32) (From Increase of 4.62% in the commercial bin service. (Varies based on size and frequency of pickup.) The CPI Weighted Average Rate Increase factors schedule attached details the specific basis for these increases. Post Office Box 2337 1800 South Grand Avenue Santa Ana, California 92705 Attention Dave Ross: Dear Dave: Attached are the calculated weighted precentage increases applied to the existing solid waste collection fee, retroactive to July 1, 1985. In addition to the 4.62% increase to the base rate an increase of $0.15 has been approved as an addition to the cost of billing. To summarize, the new residential unit rate is now $3.79 per unit (for three units or less) per month, plus $0.75 per unit per month billing expense for a total of $4.54 per unit per month. The commercial can and bin rates are included in the attached approved rate adjustment schedule. As we have previously discussed, the City will be conducting a physical inventory of all residential units within the City in order to provide an accurate accounting of billable units.
