MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL, NOVEMBER 16, 1959 MEMBERS PRESENT: Kidd,.Tadlook, Humeston, Sacon & Byrd. ABSENT : None CITY ATTORNEY : Dennis D. Hayden, present. CITY ENGINEER : J. L. McBride, present. Meeting was called to order at. 7:35 P. M. by Mayor Kidd. On motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried, minutes of the regular meeting of November 2, 1959 and the adjourned meetings of November 4th and 5th, 1959 were approved as corrected and mailed. PERMISS- In a letter to the Council dated November 16, 1959, Buel A. ION TO Williamson, local Director of Civil Defense, requested permission DEFENSE to purchase equipment from the reserve stock of the Civil FOR SUR- Defense for his office in the City Hall. PLUS. Councilman Byrd moved, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that Mr. Buel A. Williamson be authorized to purchase the necessary office equipment as requested in his letter of November 16, 1959. Motion carried. NEWMAN Judy Newman, program Chairman for the Annual Christmas party REQUEST sponsoredby the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, appeared before FOR DONA- the Council and requested financial assistance to cover TION ON advertising and purchase trophy awards to be given for the CHRISTMAS best decorated homes PARTY It was moved by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman NOT TO Humeston that not to exceed $100.00 be authorized for the EXCEED above purpose, on the basis that it has publicity vaIue for $100.00 the City of Tustin. Motion carried. DONEY Mr. George Doney, a resident of Yorba Street, asked that the COMPLAINT Council investigate the noisy and unsanitary conditions pre- ON CAFE vailing at the Holiday Cafe, 505 West First Street. The Council agreed to look the situation over a.nd see what could be done to remedy the alleged conditions. MCBRIDE City Engineer McBride, requested permission to prepare plans REQUEST and specifications for paving West Main Street from Pacific FOR PAV- Street to fifty feet (50') West of Myrtle Avenue, to join the ING Main Street over-crossing of the Riverside Freeway. Councilman Bacon moved, seconded by CounciIman Byrd, that the request by Engineer McBride to prepare plans for the above improvement of West Main Street be granted. Motion carried. Proof of Loss statement required by the Ohio Casualty Insurance Co., in settlement of damages to the city-owned 1958 Chevrolet 4 Door Sedan which occured on or about October 2~, 19~9o ORDINANCE Councilman Humeston moved, seconded by Councilman Tadlock NO. 131. that Ordinance No. 131, regulating taxicabs, have its second reading by title only. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. CANCELLA- City Attorney Hayden was authorized to sign a Cancellation TION OF of Taxes order for the City of Tustin, on property acquired TAXES by the Tustin School District described as a portion of Lot 20, Block 12, Irvine Subdivision, on Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Byrd and unamiously carried. Councilman Humeston moved, seconded by Councilman Byrd that a letter be written to Mr. Edward T. Telford, Assistant LETTER TO State Highway Engineer, California Division of Highways, TELFORD requesting information on the feasibility survey for an on and off ramp at D Street and Newport Avenue. Motion carried. TENTATIVE It was moved by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman PLAN FOR Humeaton that the Tustin City Council approve the tentative OFF-RAMP plan for an off-ramp from the Riverside Freeway, North bound at Newport Avenue and Sycamore Street, and that Mayor Kidd appear at the hearing before the Orange County Board of Supervisors at 10:00 A. M. November 18, 1959. Motion carried. Councilman Tadlock moved, seconded by Councilman Humeston that the bills be paid with the exception of the bill for Insurance for the Fire Department.
