BACKGROUND: At the August 5, 1985 regular Council meeting, Council was presented a petition to remove the no parking signs for street sweeping on California Street. The petition consisted of signatures of eleven (11) of the twenty-one {21) residents on the street. Since the eleven petition signatures represented just over fifty percent of the residents on California Street, Council directed staff to survey all residents of the street to determine their preference as to whether to leave the signs up or take the signs down. This was done by means of a mailed questionnaire to each resident. (Copy of questionnaire attached). To date, seventeen of the twenty-one residents (80.95%) have responded. The petition was a request to remove the no parking signs for street sweeping from California Street. In an effort to take action in accord with the wishes of all the residents of California Street, Council has requested staff to contact each of you to determine if you do or do not desire no parking signs for street sweeping. Please complete the attached questionnaire and return same in the self-addressed stamped envelope so that Council may render an equitable decision at their meeting of August 19, 1985.
