HomeMy WebLinkAboutNB 1 TRAFF SIG INSTALL 12-18-84NEW BUSINESS AGENDA TO: FROM: SUBJECT: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER BOB LEDENDECKER, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER AWARD OF BID - TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AND MODIFICATION AT VARIOUS INTERSECTIONS RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of December 17, 1984, award the contract for the subject project to Steiny and Company, Inc. of Anaheim, CA in the amount of $72,222.00 and authorize a supplemental budget appropriation of gasoline tax funds to the 1984-85 budget in the amount of $16,200.00. BACKGROUND: On November 19, 1984, the City Council authorized the advertisement of bids for the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Cherrywood Lane and the modification of existing traffic signals at the intersections of: Walnut Avenue and Franklin Avenue Walnut Avenue and Browning Avenue Walnut Avenue and Oxford Avenue DISCUSSION: Bids for the subject project were opened on December 11, 1984 at 10:00 A.M. and were received as follows; Steiny and Company, Inc., Fullerton ................................ $72,222.00 JRJ Construction Co., Anaheim ...................................... 74,785.00 D.H. Perry, Inc. dba: Perry Electric, Spring Valley ................ 75,368.00 L.E. Myers Co. (Grissom & Jbhnson Division), Irvine ................ 75,700.00 Paul Gardner Corp., Ontario ........................................ 76,267.00 The low bid is 7.1% over the Engineer's estimate of $67,450.00. There is presently $56,000.00 remaining in the budget for this work. The award of this contract will require a supplemental budget appropriation of $16,200.00.
