HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1959 05 18 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL, MAY 18, 1959 COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Kidd, Tadlock, Bacon & Byrd. ABSENT : Humeston. CITY ATTORNEY : Dennis D. Hayden, present. CITY ENGINEER : J. L. McBride, present. Mayor Kidd called the meeting to order at 7:30 P. M. On motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd and carried, minutes of the last meeting were approved as mailed. It was moved by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd that the correspondence be received and filed. Motion carried. PRESENTA- Mrs. David C. McDougall of the Tustin Women's Club TION OF was present and informed the ~ouncil that the Camellia CAMELLIA AS had been selected as the first choice by them, as the OFFICIAL Official Flower of the City of Tustin FLOWER Councilman Bacon moved, seconded by Councilman Tadlock CARRIED that the Tustin City Council approve the selection BY MOTION of the Camellia by the Tustin Women's Club, as the TO ACCEPT Official Flower of the City of Tustin. Motion carried. It was moved, by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Council- PROJECT man Tadlock, that 'RESOLUTION NO. 467, a Project State- STATEMENT ment to the California Division of Highways, budgeting ON BUDGET- the estimated expenditure of accumulated Gas Tax Funds ING OF for the fiscal year 1959-60, and !authorizing the GAS TAX. Mayor to sign same, be adopted. Motion carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. OPENING Mayor Kidd opened the hearing on the "Ira L. Marchant HEARING ON Annexation No. 2" to the City of Tustin. There being IRA L. MAR- no one present desiring to protest and no protests CMANT ANNEX flied with the Clerk of the Council against said annexation, Councilman Tadlock moved, seconded by Councilman Byrd that the hearing be closed. Motion carried. HEARING The hearing for Zoning and Setbacks for the "Ira L. AND ZONING Marchant Annexation No. 2" was opened by Mayor Kidd. ON SET- The City Clerk read the recommendation for Zoning BACKS FOR and Setbacks as set forth in RESOLUTION NO. 519, by ANNEX. the Tustin Planning Commission. Councilman Bacon moved, seconded by Councilman Byrd ZONED that the hearing be cIosed and the "Ira L. Marchant R-3 Annexation No. 2" be-zoned R-3 and the setbacks be as shown on the attached map to Tustin Planning Comm- ission Resolution No. 519. Motion carried. ORDINANCE Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman NO. 124 Byrd that Ordinance No. 124, "An Ordinance of the City of Tustin, California, accepting and approving the Annexation of certain uninhabited territory designated "Ira L. Marchant Annexation No.2" to the City of Tustin, have its first reading by title only. Motion carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. Councilman Byrd moved, seconded by Councilman Bacon, RESOLU- that RESOLUTION N0. 463, a statement designated, TION NO. Project E, to the California Division of Highways, 463, A budgeting the estimated expenditure of $5000.00 PROJECT E set aside for engineering snd various other uses, SET ASIDE for the fiscal year 1959-1960, be adopted. Motion FOR ENG. carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. RESOLUTION It was moved by CounCilman Tadlock, seconded by NO. 468 Councilman Byrd, that $1000.00 of the amount budgeted ALLOCATION by RES6LUTION NO. 468, be allocated to Engineering of the West Main Street improvement. Motion carried. EXTENSION ***Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Council- EAST MAIN man Byrd that the extension of East Main Street, STREET Tustin, East from Newport Avenue, be referred for consideration to the Tustin Planning Commission. Motion carried. ESTABLISH- Motion of Councilman Tsdlock, seconded by Councilman MENT OF Bacon that Ordinance no. 123, estsblishing a Disaster DISASTER Council, have its second reading in full. Motion COUNCIL carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. Motion of Coqncilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd thst Ordinance No. 123 be adopted as an emergency measure. Motion carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. Moved by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Tadlock RESOLUTION that Resolution No. 469, establishing the Organization NO. 469 as required by Ordinance No. 123, be adopted. Motion carried. ACCEPTANCE Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Bacon OF STANTON that Dr. Harlan M. Stanton be re-appointed to the Tustin RESIGNATION Planning Commission for a period of four yesrs, retroactive FROM P.C. from the expiration of his present term, and it is with regret that the Tustin City Council also accepts his letter received May 4, 1959, in which he states his reasons for not desiring to be re-appointed to the Tustin Planning Commission, as a letter of resignation and to be effective May 31, 1959. Motion carried. COMMITTEE Mayor Kidd appointed the following Committee, Councilman FOR MASTER Bacon, City Engineer McBride, City Attorney Hayden and PLAN. himself, to formulate and bring before the Council a definite plan for a "Master Plan" for the City of Tustin and adjacent territory.
