NORTH COLUHB.US-TUSTIN PARK DESIGH CONSULTANT
RECOHHENDATION:
Authorize the [,~ayor and City Clerk to execute an agreement with Recreation
Systems, Inc., 2500.East Nutwood Avenue, Suite #210, Fullerton for the design
of North Columbus-Tustin Park for an amount not to exceed $9,200.00.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council directed staff to request proposals for preliminary designs,
development plans, construction drawings and bid documents necessary to
complete the Horthern parcel of Columbus-Tustin Park. Seven planning and
landscape architecture fi°rms were contacted and asked to submit proposals.
The firms contacted all have extensive experience in park design with local
governments in the Southern Califernia area.
Proposals were to be submitted for the design of a passive park. It was
indicated to each of the firms that local residents and City staff would
work with the design team to incorporate local concerns in the park design.
Separate estimates were requested for the design of landscaping for the
wellsite at Prospect Avenue and Beneta Way and construction observation
services.
Recreation Systems, Inc. of Fullerton was the low bidder. Recreation Systems,
Inc. completed the initial master plan for the overall ColumbUs-Tustin Park
and is very familiar with the Northern parcel. Staff has worked successfully
with Recreation Systems, Inc. in the past and is confident that they will
provide professional and cost effective park design services.
