AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR "B" STREET HCDA STREET AND
STORM DRAIN IMPROVEMENTS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended thatthe City Council, at their meeting of November 19, 1984,
award the contract for subject project to the low bidder, Griffith Company of
Santa Aha, CA, in the amount of $94,700.67.
BACKGROUND:
Subject project encompasses realignment and construction of street improvements on
'B" Street fro~LMcFadden to 350' + northerly and construction of a storm drain on
"B" Street from Mitchell Avenue t~Nisson Road..
Bids for this work were opened on .November 16, 1984 at 10:00 A.M. andWere
received as follows:

Sully-Miller Co. Orange, CA 104,863.00
R. J. Noble Co. Orange, CA 106,400.45
The l~w bid i's 8.5% over the Engineer's estimate of $87,300.00.' There is
presently $258,000.00 in HCDA funding available for improvements in this area.
The County HCDA office has approved awarding of the contract to the low bidder.
Attached for the City Council's information is a tabulation of all bids received.

AWARD OF BID FOR "B" STREET IMPROVEMENTS
Due to the accelerated bid process and short time schedule for this project, "B"
Street improvements (Phase I) northerly of McFadden Avenuey the bid opening for
this project is not scheduled until Thursday, November 15, 1984. Consequently,
the staff report and bid tabulations will be distributed on Monday, November 19th
at the City Council meeting.
