AUll~ORIZATION TO CONSTRU~ A 2418 SQUARE FOOT SAVINGS AND LOAN
BUILDING
BACKGROUND:
On October 22, 1984, the .Planning Commission approved Use Permit 84-23
authorizing the construction of a 2418 square foot savings and loan building
in the Larwin Square Shopping Center. The subject project is located within the
Town Center Redevelopment project area and therefore the design is subject to
Agency review.
The applicant has appealed one of the conditions imposed by the Commission and a
public hearing before the Council is scheduled for November 19, 1984.
DISCUSSION:
If the project receives Council approval, then it is appropriate for the
Redevelopment Agency to review the design. The project as approved by the
commission consists of a 2418 square .foot structure to be located on the
southwest corner of Bryan and Newport Avenue. Also, the conversion of the
existing key shop to an automated teller is included in the proposal.
The architectural style of the savings and loan makes use of stucco and wood
building materials in a manner that is in conformance with the goals of the
redevelopment agency. The design is also compatible with other structures in
the center.

RECOI~IENBEB ACTION:
If Use Permit 84-23 is given final Council approval, then it is recommended that
the Agency approve the architectural design for the subject project as
submitted,
