PACIFIC STREET PARKING RESTRICTIONS
On October 15, 1984, the City CounCil took action on an item entitled "Request for
Restricted Parking during Street Sweeping Operations'. This action reversed a
previous action by Council concerning both California and Pacific Streets between
Medallion Avenue and Corla Avenue and provided for the installation of signing on
these streets.
After the installation of signing on Pacific street on Monday, October 22, 1984,
staff received telephone calls from the following residents of Pacific Street:
Mr. Phrang, 15741 Pacific Street
Mr. JamesMcLaughlin, 1575! Pacific Street
Diane Sellars, 15742 Pacific Street
There were upset about the installation of the signs on Pacific Street and that
they.did not have the opportunity to register their opposition at a Council
meeting. Staff responded to these individuals that there was no oppostttoh from
the audience at the October 1, 1984 Council meeting from any Pacific Street
residents and the Council had reversed the original decision on that basis.
Two of the above mentioned individuals, Mr. Phrang and Mr. McLaHghlin, responded
against any parking restriction when the letter questionnaires were mailed. Diane
Sellars made no initial response to the questionnaire. A recap of the original
responses from Pacific Street is as follows:
Total letters mailed ........................... 22
Total residents responding ..................... 15
Total residents in favor of restriction ........ 10 (67%)
Total residents against restriction ............ 5 (33%)
The above mentioned individuals have indicated that they desire to address the
City Council. on this matter at the November 5, 1984 meeting. It is suggested that
this matter be agendtzed for the November 5th City Council meeting.
