Huston: As Chairman of the National Councll on Fire Prevention TAC-1 (Tustin Area Council - 1st pilot study in the nation), I am requesting to appear before the council to ask for funds to purchase 100 smoke detectors to be installed, free of charge (by the Tustin Fire Explorcrs~, in the mobile home parks in which many of Tustin's senior citizens reside. The council antic[pates purchasing the smoke detectors for approximately $10 each. It is initially intended by the council that in the implementation of our program to make the Greater Tustin Area 100% snake detector protected, the free smoke detectors (free detectors are stage one of the program for the senior citizens and needy) will be installed in Tustin's three oldest mobile home parks. ' On August 16, 1982, the City or- Tustin passed a resolution to "support this voluntary community fire safety project..." a copy of which is enclosed. In this correspondence, I will not take up your time detailing the council's progress since it formed and then first met formally in January, 1983. b'knyor Kennedy is somewhat knowledgeable of the goals and objectives of the council as she attended the August 1983 meting, representing the City, when The Honorable Fred J. Villela, then Deputy Executive Director of the Federal Emergency Managment Agency in Washington, cooperation with the Orange County Fire Department .-~hief larry J.
