MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL,
SEPTEMBER 2nd, 1958.
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Kidd, Tadlock, Humeston, Bacon &
Byrd.
ABSENT : None.
CITY ATTORNEY : ~Dennis D. Hayden., present.
Meeting was called.to order at 7:45 P. M. by Mayor Kidd.
On motion of Councilman.Byrd,.seconded by Councilman Bacon
and carried, minutes of last meeting were approved as mailed.
Jerry Mack, Chairman of the Events Committee for Tiller Days
EXTRA was present and requested extra help from the Police and
HELP FOR Fire Department for the duration of the celebration, and
TUSTIN TILL- especially during the period of the parade. He also asked
ER DAYS. and was granted permission for the old Fire Truck to be
used in the parade. Chief of Police Johansen was instructed
by the council to co-operate and work out any details
necessary with the Tiller Days Committee. It was also
suggested that an outdoor portable stage might be a good
investment for the City of Tustin, in as-much as it could
be used in various.civic events, and that the material for
PORTABLE one could be purchased for $300.00. Motion of Councilman
STAGE Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock that the City of
Tustin purchase the material for a portable stage, and a
Warrant of $300.00 be drawn for the above purpose and
charged to the Parks and Playgrounds fund. Motion carried.
MOTION Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Bacon
ON that said stage when completed, be turned over to the Tustin
STAGE Chamber of Commerce, to be in their custody and used for
Tustin Tiller Days and other civic uses. Motion carried.
Motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock,
that the Tustin Chamber of Commerce be allowed to erect a
banner on West First Street and one on D Street and that
they be properly erected with due regard to public safety.
Motion carried..
SULLY- City Engineer McBride reported that the Sully-Miller Co.
MILLER had offered to pave Third Street from Prospect Avenue to
CONTRACT the beginning of Tract No. 2187 to his specifications for
FOR WORK an estimated cost of $566.00. On motion of Councilman Byrd,
ON PROS- seconded by Councilman Tadlock, City Engineer McBride was
PECT AVE. authorized to proceed with the paving of Third Street from
Prospect Avenue to Tract No. 2187 on the basis of the bid
by the Sully-Miller Co. Motion carried.
TAX Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Tadlock
CANCELLA- that City Attorney Hayden be authorized to consent to Tax
TION. Cancellation on the Pollard property at Main and Pasadena
Streets, purchased by the California Department of High-
ways. Motion carried.
NEW CON- Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman
TRACT FOR Byrd that the contract for Trash and Garbage pick-up for
TRASH & the period from September 2nd, 1958 to December 31st,
GARBAGE 1960 be approved and that Mayor Kidd be authorized to
APPROVAL sign for the City of Tustin. Motion carried.
PARKING ON Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Bacon
TUSTIN AVE. that RESOLUTION N0.450, regulating the parking area on
& FIRST Tustin Avenue South of First Street, be adopted. Motion
STREET. carried, all Councilmen voting Aye.

Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Council-
man Byrd that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
