OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL
JULY 7, 1958
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Bacon, Humeston & Byrd.
ABSENT : Kidd & Tadlock
CITY ATTORNEY : Dennis D. Hayden, present.
Meeting was called to order promptly at 7:30 P. M.
by Mayor Pro tem Bacon.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as
mailed, on motion of Councilman Humeaton, seconded
by Councilman Byrd and duly carried.
A written request from Mayor Jerome Kidd requesting
MAYOR that he beallowed to be absent from the state for
KIDD the balance of July. On motion of Councilman Humeaton,
LEAVE OF seconded by Councilman Byrd and carried, the Mayor's
ABSENCE request was granted.
GOWDY A letter was read from Mrs. John Gordy, Branch Librarian,
REQUEST requesting permission to remove for use at the new
FOR Library, the sign letters furnished by the city, while the
LIBRARY Library was in the City Hall building.
LETTERS
On motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman
Humeston and carried, Mrs. Gowdy's request was granted.
CENTURY The Century Sign Contractors, Newport Beach, filed a
SIGN FOR written request to erect a temporary subdivision sign
FIRST & on the Tubbs property at First Street and Tustin Avenue
TUSTIN for the Tietz Construction Co. of Garden Grove, Calif.
Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman
Humeston that the above company be allowed to erect a
sign subject to the same provisions applied to similar
signs at that location. Motion carried.
BABCOCK Attorney Otis Babcock filed a claim for personal injury
CLIENT to a client with the City Council and on motion of
TURNED Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Byrd and

The Tustin Chamber of Commerce presented a letter to the
TROPHY Council stating they were the undeserving recipients
TO CITY of a Trophy from the Orange County Fair Committee, for

TUSTIN on Tustin Day and desired to pass the honor on to the
CHAMBER Council a representatives of the City of Tustin.
OF COMMER- The City Clerk was instructed to write a letter to the

and the City of Tustin.
SIEGEL An application for John H. Siegel, Civil Engineer, for

be received and filed, for consideration at a later
date.
HANSELL Joseph S. Hansell appeared before the Council and re-
REQUEST quested that he be allowed to remove trees at his

MOVAL OF On motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman
TREES Humeston and carried, the above request was granted.
Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston
ORD #116 that Ordinance No. 116, "An Ordinance of the City
HAVE IT'S Council of the City of Tustin, amending zoning Ordinance
SECOND No. 71 of the City of Tustin and rezoning and establishing
READING building lines for certain property in the City of
Tustin," have its second reading by title only. Motion
carried, all councilmen present voting Aye.
ADOPTION Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman
Byrd that Ordinance No. 116 be adopted. Motion carried,
all Councilmen present voting Aye.
On motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman
Byrd that the City Clerk be authorized to engage someone
competent to check building plans. Motion carried.
Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston
RESOLUTION that Resolution No. 443, an agreement with the State
NO. 443 Division of Highways, be adopted and that Mayor Pro tem
Bacon and the City Clerk be authorized to sign for the city.
Motion carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye.
On motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston
DEPOSITS and carried, the City Clerk is authorized to aceept deposits
ON CURB from the property owners on the South side of Second St.,
2ND ST. between Pacific St and "A" St for curbs. Motion carried.
Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston
REMOVAL that the City Engineer be authorized to have the stumps
OF STUMPS on Prospect Avenue, adjacent to the Mullin property,
ON MULLIN removed at a cost not to exceed $50.00 per stump. Motion
PROPERTY carried.
Motion by Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman
BIDS ON Byrd that the City Engineer, obtain quotations for the
RESURFAC- resurfacing of Main Street between Prospect Avenue
ING. and D Street. Motion carried.
On motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman
AGREEMENT Humeston and carried, City Attorney Hayden was authorized
WITH HWY to sign an agreement with the California Highway Department,
DE'T RE: to remove the Prather property at Main Street and Tustin
PRATHER Avenue from the tax rolls.

Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Byrd
RE-ROUTING and carried the notice from the Public Utilities Commission
ON M & W regarding a change in routing for the M. & W. Bus Lines
BUS LINE was ordered received and filed.
PHILLIPS On motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston,
RAISE IN the wages of Oscar C. Phillips were ordered raised from $300.00
SALARY per month to $325.00 per month as of July l, 1958.
Motion carried.
The bills were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Humeston,
seconded by Councilman Byrd and carried.

Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Byrd
and carried, the meeting was adjourned until Tuesday,
July 15, 1958 at 7:30 P. M.
