HIT 84-8 GEORGETOWN HANOR APARTHENTS DISCUSSION: The City Council at its meeting July 16, 1984 continUed consideration of the subject use permit to the Council's August 6th-meeting specifically requesting the project applicant to meet with adjoining neighbors in an attempt to resolve differences. Staff conducted a meeting at City Hall on July 24, 1984 at which 186 property owners were invited to attend by written invitation. This notification included all property owners within 300 feet of the subject property and-all those in attendance at past meetings who submitted their names. However, pnly 10 neighbors attended the July 24th meeting. Discussion at the City Hall meeting was similar to that expressed in previous public.heartnga. Specifically, adjoining neighbors are opposed to the use permit, object to the driveway behind their homes, do not like two story buildings which decrease their privacy and overall object to the additional apartment units which will generate increased traffic levels. After nearly one hour of discussion, at times quite emotional, neither party agreed to any specific resolution. However, the property owner Jim Beauchamp and his architect Gary Daugherty, agreed to submit a revised site plan for Council review on August 6th. Attached to this transmittal is the latest revised plan which is substantially different from previous submittals. Overall, the property owner has reduced his request from 18 additional units to 12 and eliminated the two story building in that area designated as '"existing pool". Additiona]ly all parking spaces, carports, and paved driveways have been removed from the greenbelt area at the southeast end of the project. City Council Use Permit 84-8 page two Overall, the property owner has substantially reduced his request in density but is still offering to upgrade the entire property and bring the overall parking standards up to present code. Staff will be prepared at the City Council meeting to review the project plan and answer Council's questions. RECOI,lqENDATION: Pleasure of the City Council. DONALD D.
