STATUS REPORT CONCERNING STRUCTURAL CRACKS Ill THE CITY PARKING
STRUCTURE RAMP
DISCUSSION:
The City Council at its last meeting directed staff to report concerning its
investigations of cracks forming in the parking structure ramp at 445 "C"
Street..Staff has been aware of the problem and directed building department
inspectors and structural plan checker to investigate the problem and
recommendations for its correction.
In the opinion of Ric Lazaro, our City's structural plan check engineer, the
ramp cracks are probably caused by settlement of earth fill which supports the
ramp. Mr. Lazaro recommended the general contractor employed by Gfeller
Development Company contact its project engineer responsible for structural
design and request an investigation. A letter reflecting Mr. Lazaro's
recommendations has been forwarded to Gfeller Development.
Staff will continue to advise Council concerning this subject.
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file.
