REQUEST FOR RESTRICTED PARKING DURING STREET SWEEPING OPERATIONS
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of July 16, 1984, authorize the
inst~llation of signing to restrict on-street parking during street sweeping
hours, 6:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday on both sides of Marshall Lane between
FairhaVen Avenue and Santa Clara Avenue. It is further recommended that warnings
be issued in lieu of citations for the first 30 days after sign installation.
BACKGROUND:
A request for restricted parking during street sweeping operations along Marshall
Lane northerly of Santa Clara Avenue has been received from Mr. Charles Anderson
of 13302 Marshall Lane. As a result of this request., staff sent letters of
inquiry ~o all residents (41) of Marshall Lane between Fairhaven Avenue and Santa
Clara Avenue as to the desires either for or against the requested parking
restrictions.
DISCUSSION:
As of the date of this memo, staff has received 32 responses from residents as
follows:
14 - In favor of restricted on-street parking between the hours of 6:00 a.m.
and noon on Wednesdays during street sweeping operations,
11 - Not in favor of restricted on-street parking between the hours of 6:00
a.m. and noon on Wednesdays during street sweeping operations.
I - Does not care either way.
The proposed parking prohibition would extend the entire length on both sides of
Marshall Lane between Fairhaven Avenue and Santa Clara Avenue. The suggested
signing for this street would be located as shown in red on the attached map at
the entrance to Marshall Lane and would read as follows:
NO PARKING
6:00 A.M. TO NOON
WEDNESDAY
STREET SWEEPING
REQUEST FOR RESTRICTED PARKING DURING STREET SWEEPING OPERATIONS

PAGE 2
The City Council has approved several other requests similar to this request and
their implementation enables the street sweeper to do a more complete job of
sweeping in a lesser amount of time and with fewer hazards of maneuvering around
parked cars.
Due to the response of 54% of the residents being in favor of the parking
restrictions, staff suggests that the City Council authorize installation of same.
