SUaJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR FISCAL YEAR 1983-84 STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of May 21., 1984, award the contract
for the Fiscal Year 1983-84 Street Maintenance Program to Blair Paving, Inc. of
Anaheim, the low bidder, in the amount of $203,769.14 and authorize staff to
expand said contract with additional work in an amount not to exceed $40.,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
On April 16, 1984., the City Council authorized staff to advertise bids for street
pavement maintenance on the following streets:
Red Hill Ave., from Walnut Ave. to Nisson Rd.
Newport Ave., from Sycamore Ave. to McFadden Ave.
Edinger Ave., from Red Hill Ave. to the Costa Mesa (Newport Freeway).
There is presently $245,000.00 budgeted for this street maintenance work.
DISCUSSION:
Bids for this work were opened on May 11., 1984 at 9:00 A.M. and were received as
follows:

The low bid is 10.7% under the Engineer's estimate of $228,287.86.
Attached is a complete tabulation of all bids for the City Council's information.
As in past practices of the Street Maintenance Program, staff is recommending that
additional street maintenance work be added to this current year's program up to
an amount of $40,000.00 so as to help accelerate the program and utilize the full
amount of budgeted funds for 1983-84.
