HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1957 09 23 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd, 1957 COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Kidd, Bacon, Tadlock, Humeston & Byrd. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None. CITY ATTORNEY : Dennis D. Hayden, Absent. CITY CLERK : A. O. Park, Absent. ~" Meeting was called to order by Mayor Kidd at 7:45 P. M. On Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried, Minutes wereapproved as mailed out. APPROVAL A recommendation was read from the Tustin Planning Commission, FOR PLAN- suggesting that the Tustin City Council join the Southern NING CON- California Planning Congress. A short discussion relative to GRESS. the merits derived from such membership was held. Motion by Councilman.Humeston, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that the Council join the organization. Motion carried. A letter from the firm of Hahn, Wise and Barker, planning Consultants, offering planning assistance was read. Motion by Bacon, seconded by Byrd, that the letter be answered the effect that if assistance needed in future, they would be called upon. Motion carried. APPRECIA- A letter of appreciation from the Chamber of Commerce, to the TION ON Tustin Council was read, complimenting the Council on the '.~ TUSTIN cooperation received in the making of Tustin Tiller Days TILLER Carnival a success. Also a word of thanks was given by them DAYS to the police Department, Fire Department and Sanitation Department. Correspondence from the Orange County League of Cities was noted outlining their new policy for the coming year and asking for subjects to be introduced at next meeting, which would be of general help and assistance to the different organizations. On Motion of Bacon, seconded by Humeston it was decided to continue at a later date the selecting of suitable subjects to be presented. Motion carried. PARAMOUNT A letter was read from the paramount Flag Co., to Davis Stationers, FLAG CO. in which they stated, that the fading of flag purchased by the City of Tustin, was due to gas fumes from heater and rays of sun. Copy of reply was read, stating that circumstances as they out- lined, were not present in this case. PETITION A petition was presented by C. T. Gilbreathe, of 120 D Street FROM and Mr. William Bowman of Mitchell Avenue, with 40 signatures GILBREATHE attached, protesting the re-zoning of property near Newport and Laguna Road, to M-1. Mayor Kidd thanked them for bringing the matter to the attention of the Council and informed them of the date for public Hearing in regard to this property. PETITION Motion by Humeston, seconded by Byrd that petition be received FILED and placed on file. Motion carried, all Councilman present voting Aye. Discussion was held regarding 1 hour parking in area, between Main and First on D Street. Recommendation was made by Commissioner Lee Byrd and Chief Johansen, which was accepted by City Council. RESOLU- A request was made by Mayor Kidd that a RESOLUTION be drawn TION FOR up to cover 1 hour parking between Main and First on D Street. 1 HR PARKING The Memorandum of Agreement which exists between O. V. Dart and the City of Tustin was read by members of the Council. POSTPONE- Councilman Bacon, suggested postponment on discussion until MENT ON Fire Chief Lindsay reports his findings. AGREE- MENT Councilman Humeston asked the status regarding Gentry Agree- ment on prospect. Councilman Bacon moved that the matter rest until the return of Gentry's attorney to the city. Tadlock seconded, motion carried. Motion of Councilman Tadlock and seconded by Bacon, that bills be paid. Motion carried. The Tustin News .......
