HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1957 08 12 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1957. COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Kidd, Tadlock, Humeston, Bacon & Byrd. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None. CITY ATTORNEY: Dennis D. Hayden, present. Meeting called to order at 7:35 P. M. by Mayor Kidd. In the Minutes of the meeting of July 22nd, 1957 RESOLUTIONS NO. 419 and 420 were corrected to NO.'s 420 and 421 respectively. On motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston and carried, the minutes were approved as corrected and mailed. PACIFIC TEL. A communication from the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., & TELEGRAPH stating that they had filed an application with the Public INCREASE Utilities Commission for increase in certain rates and charges, was read. Councilman Tadlock motioned, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that the above communication be received and filed. Motion carried. FIRE AGREE- Motion by Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Tadlock MENT WITH that after approval by the City Attorney, the Mutual Fire CITY OF protection Agreement with the City of Orange be accepted and ORANGE. signed by the Mayor. Motion carried. Two letters from the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, one dated August 8, 1957, the other August 10, 1957, were read, requesting Council approval for a series of items. On motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston and carried, that requests in the above letters be granted, after clearance with City Attorney Hayden, Police Chief Johansen and Fire Chief Lindsay. It was brought to the attention of the Council that the Tustin sign at Main Street and Tustin Avenue had been removed. REPLACEMENT Mayor Kidd appointed Councilman Byrd, Chief of Police Johansen OF SIGN OR- and City Engineer McBride, a committee to see that a suitable DERED. sign be re-erected at that location. Motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock, RESOLUTION that RESOLUTION NO. 422, "A Resolution of the City of Tustin FIXING AND fixing and determining the amount of money necessary to be DETERMINING raised by Taxation upon Taxable Property, within the City of TAXATION & Tustin and revenue to carry on the various departments of said REVENUE city for the fiscal year 1957-58," be adopted. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Humeston that ORDINANCE No. 114, "An Ordinance of the City of Tustin fixing the amount of Revenue required from property taxes to carry on the various departments of the city and fixing the rate of Tax on the Taxable Property within the city to carry on the work of the city for the fiscal year 1957-58," have its first read- ing in its entirety. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. Motion by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston. that if the old water heater in the City Hall cannot be repaired, that the City Clerk be authorized to purchase a new one, not to exceed 20 gallon capacity. Motion carried. Councilman Bacon made a brief report on his trip home with the new fire truck. 300 Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
