West - Maintenance Superintendent SUBJECT: Homeowner Request for Tree Removal Recommendation: I recommend the tree be removed as requested and a replacement tree be selected by the homeowner from the City approved tree list. Background: Mr. Phelps of 1071 Walter Avenue, requests the parkway tree in front of his property be removed. He states that surface roots have covered his yard so that he cannot mow. He is also concerned that the tree has grown into the electrical wires. Discussion:' The tree is a Magnolia. It was planted by the developer'some thirty years ago when it was County. The trees have not done well, probably poor stock to begin with, plus they appear to have suffered from lack of water. There are no sidewalks and the tree is planted much to close to the curb. In a few years the trunk would be protruding out into the street. Notification to Mr. Phelps neighbors were handed out and one letter of objection was received. (Please find attached).
