HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1957 07 08 296. MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL, MONDAY, JULY 8th, 1957 COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Kidd, Tadlock, Humeaton, Bacon & Byrd. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None. CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr. present. DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY: Dennis O. Hayden, present. Meeting called to order by Mayor Kidd at 7:45 P. M. On motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Byrd and carried, the minutes were approved as mailed. APPROVAL FOR A letter from the office of the Orange County Superintendent OCCUPATIONAL of Schools was read, requesting that the City Council of SURVEY Tustin adopt a Resolution approving an Occupational Survey being conducted by Santa Ana Junior College. Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Bacon that the above request be complied with. Motion carried, all councilmen voting Aye. TUSTIN The Tustin Playbox requested permission to operate a PLAYBOX summer stock theatre in the Elementary school auditorium, from June through August. On motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd and duly carried, above request was granted. PERMIISSION Motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Tadlock, FOR CHRIST- that the request of the Christian Science Society for IAN SCIENCE permission to hang a sign in front of their building on TO HANG SIGN East Main street be granted. Motion carried. Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Bacon that the other correspondence be received and filed. Motion carried. City Engineer McBride brought up the question of changing NUMBERING House Numbers in the Eastside Annexation, from the county SYSTEM FOR system to the Tustin method. On motion of Councilman Bacon, EASTSIDE TO seconded by Councilman Byrd and carried, the house numbering CONFORM TO method on property within the Eastside Annexation would CITY. be changed to conform with the City of Tustin's method of numbering. City Engineer McBride also submitted sample street signs and prices on signs and poles. Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Byrd PURCHSE OF that Engineer McBride be authorized to purchase street signs STREET SIGNS and angle iron poles, for First Street, D Street and Main AND ANGLE Street, cost not to exceed $750.00 and the City Clerk be POLES authorized to sign the purchase order. Motion carried. TRAFFIC A plan for Traffic control of First and D Street was submitted CONTROL ON by Chief Johansen and Engineer McBride. Motion of Councilman FIRST AND Humeston, seconded by Councilman Bacon that City Engineer McBride D STS. 29' PLACING be authorized to proceed with the engineering aspects of OF STOP the plan, and tha~ a Resolution be prepared for adoption, SIGNS authorizing placing of stop signs, Northbound at D and First Street, Westbound on the Northside of First and D Streets and Eastbound at First and D Street. Motion carried, three Councilman voting Aye, one voting No. SALARY Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston INCREASE that the salary of City Treasurer Leinberger be increased to FOR CITY $35.00 per month and the pay for Janitor service be increased TREASURER to 835.00 per month. Motion carried. Councilman Bacon requested permission to be absent from the BACON state for two weeks. On motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Tadlock and carried, Councilman Bacon's request was granted. EASTSIDE Motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Tadlock ELECTION that the election officials of the Eastside Annexation BOARD PAID Election Board be paid; for inspector $12.00; and the judges $10.00 each for services. Motion carried. Motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Humeston that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
