SANTA ANA (I-5) FREEWAY MAINTENANCE PROJECT - INFORMATION REPORT
CalTrans has informed staff that the maintenance work will commence along the I-5
freeway between Myford Rd..and Anaheim Blvd. on or about April 21, 1984. This
proposed work will consist of a cracking and seating procedure on the existing
concrete pavement and a 4 1/2 inch asphaltic concrete overlay.
The total project will be divided into three segments as follows:
Segment I
Segment II
- Myford Road l~o Route 55 Interchange
(shown in red on map)
- Route 55 Interchange to Route 22-Garden Grove Freeway
(shown in yellow on map)
Segment III - Route 22-Garden Grove Freeway to Anaheim Boulevard
(shown in blue on map)
Construction on each segment will be divided into two parts delineated as
northbound and southbound directions. The Contractor will be allowed to work on
only one part of a segment at any given time. The allowed hours of construction
will be between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on weekdays and between 11:00 p.m. and
9:00 a.m. on weekends. During this construction time each segment will be closed
and all freeway traffic will be re-routed as shown in green on the attached sketch
and as follows:
1. Segment I closure will detour traffic via the San Diego (405)
freeway and Costa Mesa (Route 55) freeway.
Segment II closure will detour traffic via the Costa Mesa
(Route 55) fre~ay and the Garden Grove (Route 22) freeway.
3. Segment III closure will detour traffic via the Orange
(Route 57) freeway and the Riverside (Route 91) freeway.
CalTrans has indicated that Segment I will be the start of construction on or
about April 21st with the southbound direction (part 1) being the first order of
construction. Part 1 should take about 6-8 weeks to complete and after that time
the Contractor will commence with the northbound direction, or Part 2. The total
project is estimated to last between 9 and 12 months.
