HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1957 06 17 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL MONDAY, JUNE 17th, 1957 COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Bacon, Tadlock, Humeston & Byrd. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Kidd. CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., present. Meeting called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Protem Bacon On motion of Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Tadlock and carried. The minutes were approved as mailed. LETTER OF The Council received a letter from W. R. Nelson, District Superin- COMMENDA- tendent, and the Board of Trustees of the Tustin Elementary TION FOR School District, commending the cooperation and diligence of the POLICE DEPT Tustin Police Department. PERMISSION The Tustin Chamber of Commerce requested permission to close TO Main Street between D Street and Prospect Avenue, for the greater CLOSE part of the day on the 24th of August, the final day of a three STREET day sales event, for a dance, etc. Motion of Councilman Tadlock, DURING seconded by Councilman Humeston that the above request be granted THREE the Chamber of Commerce. Motion carried. DAY EVENT. Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston 2ND READ- that Ordinance No. 111 have its second reading by title only. ING ORD.111 Motion carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. ADOPTION Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston OF NO. 111 that Ordinance No. 111 be adopted. Motion carried. All Councilmen present voting Aye. 2ND Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd, that READ- Ordinance No. 112 have its second reading by title only. Motion ING NO. carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. 112. Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston ADOPTION that Ordinance No. 112 be adopted. Motion carried, all Councilmen present voting Aye. 2ND READ- Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston, ING OF No. that Ordinance No. 113 have its second reading by title only. 113. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. ADOPTION Motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston that Ordinance No. 113 be adopted. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. SIGNING On motion of Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston OF AGREE- and carried, Mayor Protem Bacon was authorized to sign the MENT FOR agreement for sale and purchase of Tax deeded property, described TAX DEEDED as follows: PROPERTY. The North ten feet of the West 80 feet of Lot 3, Block 14, Tustin City. RESIG- City Attorney C. Arthur Nisson Jr. presented a letter of resignation NATION as City Attorney of the City of Tustin to be effective not later OF NISSON, than August 1, 1957. EFFECTIVE AUG. 1st. On motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Byrd and duly carried, the above letter was ordered received and filed. EXECUTIVE Mayor Protem Bacon declared the Council in Executive Session. SESSION Dennis D. Hayden and Fred Johnston, both attorneys, presented their applications and were interviewed for the position of City Attorney. APPLICATION Written applications from the following attorneys for the position READ FOR were also read. Gilbert M. Muetler, Robert S. Barnes, Frank L. POSITION Bowman and Ernest V. Garret.
