RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend the two trees be removed, as requested, and that the trees be replaced
with two of Mrs. Sagan's choice from the City approved list.
BACKGROUND:
Mrs. Jan Sagan of 14621 Buckingham Road has requested the City remove two Liquid
Amber trees from her parkway. Mrs. Sagan states the trees have so many roots on
top of the ground that they have not only damaged the curb and gutter but are very
unsightly. The roots have come under the sidewalk over into the lawn and that she
cannot mow without damage to her mower.
DISCUSSION:
Mrs. Sagan's trees are (Styracifulu~) Liquid Amber. The tree is approved for
planting in commercial areas. It has a poor root system for areas with heavy soil
and poor drainage. The roots of Mrs. Sagan's trees makes her property look unkept
and there is little she can do to improve the looks of the root system.
Notification was given to the neighbors and no objections were given.
