HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1957 04 08 MINUTES 0F A MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL, MONDAY APRIL 8th, 1957 COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Kidd, Tadlock, Humeston, Bacon & Byrd. ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr. Present. Mayor Kidd called the meeting to order promptly at 7:30 P. M. On motion by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried, the minutes were approved as mailed out. Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock that RESOLUTION NO. 412 "Resolution of intention to annex RESOLUTION territory pursuant to annexation of uninhabited territory NO. #412 Act of 1939, as amended, describing the territory to be annexed, designating the name of the annexation as "Northwest Annexation to Tustin," setting forth the reasons for said annexation and setting a Time and place for hearing protests thereto.", be adopted. Motion carried, all councilmen voting Aye. 2nd READING Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Humeston ORD #109 that ORDINANCE N0. 109 have it's second reading by title only, Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Humeston ADOPTION that ORDINANCE NO. 109 be adopted. Motion carried, all council- men voting Aye. City Engineer McBride discussed the agreement presented by the STATE HIGH- State Highway Department on the Riverside Freeway through WAY. Tustin and suggested that there should be more clarification on Section 5, in the proposed agreement. On motion by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman AGREEMENT Humeston and duly carried, Mayor Kidd was authorized to sign the above agreement, with changes as suggested, for the City of Tustin. Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock, EASTSIDE that the Council determines, that protests filed on the ANNEXATION "Eastside Annexation to Tustin" are less than 50% of the total assessed valuation. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Humeston RESOLUTION that RESOLUTION NO. 413, a Resolution of the City Council #413 of the City of Tustin calling a special election to determine whether or not the territory known as "Eastside Annexation to Tustin", shall be annexed to the City of Tustin, be adopted. Motion carried, all Councilmen voting Aye. Letters from the Orange Disposal Service and the Holthe Disposal BIDS ON THE Service, containting bids on trash and garbage pick-up were read. TRASH DIS- Upon motion by Councilman Humeston, seconded by Councilman Bacon POSAL and duly carried, Mayor Kidd was authorized to appoint a committee to study the problem and report back to the Council with recommendations. Mayor Kidd appointed Council Frank Bacon Jr., Councilman Lee Byrd and City Clerk A. O. Park to act as the above committee. C.P.S. RATES The City Clerk informed the Council that C. P. S. rates would RAISED. be increased as of June l, 1957. On motion by Councilman CITY PARTICI- Tadlock seconded by Councilman Humeston and duly carried. PATION SAME. it was agreed that the City would participate in the plan on the same basis as in the past. NEW RADIO Motion by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston EQUIPMENT that Chief of Police Johansen be authorized to purchase new radio equipment for the police cars, to conform with the change in wave lengths to be put in effect by the County station on July 1st, 1957. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Humeston, that the bills be paid, with the exception of the Selman Chevrolet Company bill, and that it be approved for payment by Mayor Kidd. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock that FIRE PRO- the Newport Mutual Aid Fire Protection agreemenU be approved TECTION for signatures to be signed by Mayor Kidd and City Clerk Park. AGREEMENT Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Byrd that CLARK APP'T F. N. Clark, 1021 S. E. Tropic Lane, Santa Ana, Calif., be PLANNING appointed to fill the unexpired 2 year term of Chris Lindley, COMMISSION resigned, on the Tustin Planning Commission. Motion carried.
