Mr. & Mrs. Russel Tinz 14662 Westfall Road Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Roybal 14672 Westfall Road Mr. & Mrs. Jack Rushton 14682 Westfall Road Viginia Olivieri 14682 Westfall Road Mr. & Mrs. Tim Elrod 14702 Westfall Road Mr. & Mrs. Rick Vink 14712 Westfall Road BACKGROUND The trees are Brazilian Peppers and they are not an approved tree for parkways. They are very dirty, blooming with yellowish flowers which turns to a red berry that is very messy and sticky. Virginia Olivieri stated that she has allergies and the pollen from the trees causes her considerable distress. Notifications were handed out to other residents on ~he street notifing them of their neighbors request for the removal. No objections were received. January 5, 1982 Request for Tree Removal Continued RECOMMENDATION It would be of little help to Virginia Olivieri's allergies just to remove her tree and leave the neighbors, therefore I recommend that all the trees requested for removal be removed and replaced with a more suitable tree, one which pleases the home owners and is approved by the City. Mai ntenance Superintendent cc: Bob Ledendecker December l, 1981 City Center Dear Homeowner: Virginia Olivieri of 14692 Westfall Road has requested that the City remove the parkway tree in front of her property and the property owners on the same street at the following addresses have requested that the City remove their parkway trees also: Mr. & Mrs. Rushton 14882 Westfall Mr. & Mrs. Elrod 14702 Westfall Mr. & Mrs. Vink 14172 Westfall Mr. & Mrs. Roybal 14672 Westfall Mr. & Mrs. Tinz 14662 Westfall Although the trees will be replace the replacement will be much samller and as it takes years to grow a~tree, the removal will affect the environment in which you live. Tustin, Calif. 92680 ~ovember 9,1981 City Of~Tustin 300 Centennial Way Tustin, Califor~±a 92680 Mr. Hugh West: The trees in the ~ront of our homes are very detrimental to our environment, health, and property. The yellow substance shedding from these trees have ruined the paint on some cars; the roots are grov~ng under the sidewalk into our front yards and if left alone would grow rapidly and cause more damage. The yellow substance sticks so tenaciously to the cars, sidewalks and streets that it is ~mpossib~e to get it off even v~th the best of car washing and hosing equipment. Worst of all, ~,~thin one hour after wor!~ng so hard everything is covered ~ll over again. Most of all I have many aller~les and these trees are adding to them. Children pick up the yellow substance and throw it in the air and then lick their fingers. I hope these children are not allergic. I have contacted the following families and all are in agreement that the city be requested to remove these~trees as soon as possible. These trees shed yellow substances continuously over street, front yard and cars. The roots come under our sidewalks into our yards and if left alon would grow rapidly. The yellow subustnace is ruining the paint on our cars. Most important of all I have many allergies and these trees are adding to them. If it is necessary I will be more than happy to obtain a letter from my doctor to that affect. Thanking you in advance for your prompt attention Sincerely Virginia B Olivieri
