HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1956 07 09 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR NEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, JULY 9th, 1956, IN THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, Arthur O. Park, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., W. L. Tadlock and Lee A. Byrd. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: City Clerk S. C. Penington. Deputy City Clerk Doris C. Grace acted in his place. CITY ATTORNEY.: C. Arthur Nisson, .Jr., was present. Mayor Kidd called the meeting to order at 8:05 P.M. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried, that the Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council on June 25th, 1956, be approved as mailed out. RESIGNATION A letter of resignation because of ill health, from City Clerk OF CITY CLERK S.C. Penington, was read by Mayor Kidd. Councilman Tadlock moved, S.C. PENINGTON Councilman Park seconded the motion that the resignation be accept- ed as of July 23rd, 1956. Motion carried. Councilman Park motioned, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that City Attorney Nisson frame a Resolution of Appreciation of service to the City of Tustin by City Clerk S. C. Penington. Motion was carried unanimously. Councilman Park read a letter from the Division of Highways con- cerning taxes still due on Assessment #279, and at the conclusion moved that the balance of $7.59 due on aforementioned assessment be cancelled. Councilman Tadlock seconded the motion and motion carried. Councilman Tadlock moved, Councilman Park seconded, motion carried, to approve a business license for signs erected for the sale and promotion of Dream Homes, Inc., being constructed by Realty Engineering Company, the business license to be issued for the second half of this year. Bacon motioned and Park seconded, that the contract and bonds executed by the Sully-Miller Co., for the Improvement of North "A", "B", and "C" Streets be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign said contract, and the City Clerk be directed to return the check posted as Bidders' Bond by the Sullyy-Miller Co., Motion carried. In the matter of John Prescott versus City Building Inspector Kiser in regard to the failure of Mr. Prescott to make a hydro- static test on sewer lines at the Par Que Santiago Trailer Park, Councilman Byrd moved, Councilman Park seconded, motion carried unanimously that City Attorney Nisson be authorized to defend Mr. Kiser and also be given the authority to call additional witnesses, if necessary. None were present before the Council to discuss assessments and the City Council sitting as a Board of Equalization continued their hearing as such until the 16th of July, 1956. Councilman Tadlock moved, Councilman Byrd seconded the motion that the following bills be paid: Max A. Hieber $ 44.00 James S. D. 20.00 Total $1227.17 Councilman Tadlock Moved, Councilman Park seconded, motion was duly carried, that the meeting be adjourned until 7:30 P.M., July 16th,.1956., at which time a special meeting of the City Council will be held.
