HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1956 06 25 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 25th, 1956, IN THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, Arthur O. Park, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., W.L. Tadlock and Lee A. Byrd. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: City Clerk S. C. Penington. Deputy City Clerk Doris C. Grace acted in his place. CITY ATT0RNEY: C. Arthur disson, Jr., was present. Mayor Kidd called the meeting to order at 7:45 P.M. Councilman Park noted that at the end of paragraph 5, minutes of June 11th, 1956, the sentence "Motion carried had been omitted. Motion by Councilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that the correction be made and the minutes approved as mailed out. Motion carried. Mr. Dennis Hayden, Attorney for Mr. John Prescott, was present and asked that. the denial of license and final inspection for Par Que Santiago Trailer Park be reconsidered. After Attorney Hayden briefly reviewed the reasons why he believed the City should approve the final inspection and issue a business license, Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Tadlock, moved that the matter be referred to City Attorney Nisson for further investi- gation and report his findings to the next meeting of the Council. motion carried. Councilman Byrd moved, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that a hear- ing be set before the Planning Commission on the 23rd of July, 1956, at 8:15 P.M., on the zoning of the Pankey, Griset and Claus Annexations. Motion carried. Representatives of the Christian Science Church were present and requested the use of the Council Chambers for Church Services. It was explained to them that the Council had established a policy of not permitting individual groups or organizations to use the Council rooms except on matters of general public welfare. Motion by Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Byrd that the request be denied carried. Mr. Jack Hoyle of the Medical Building Corp., of America, was present and advised the Council that Mr. Andrew Morris was ready to proceed with Annexation of his frontage on First St., and had the necessary survey ready for checking by City Engineer McBride and the County Boundary Commission. City Attorney Nisson ex- plained the necessary procedure. RESOLUTION Councilman Park moved, seconded by Councilman Bacon, that Reso- #389 lution No. 389, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of APPROVED Tustin of Intention to Abandon and Vacate an Alley within the City of Tustin pursuant to the Provisions of the Street Vacation Act of 1941" be adopted. Motion carried. All Councilmen voting Aye. Mayor Kidd did not vote. Motion by Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Tadlock, that a previous Motion approved on May 28th, 1956, setting the pay of $55.00 per month in addition to inspection fee's for Building Inspector Dudley Kiser be cancelled, and in its place he be allowed a rate of pay not to exceed $50.00 per month in addition to inspection fee' s for the establishment of regular morning hours at the City Hail. This arrangement to continue at the pleasure of the Council. Motion carried. Councilman Tadlock moved, seconded by Councilman Park, that Councilman Bacon be given authority to obtain proper phone facilities for more efficient Fire Service. Motion carried. RESOLUTION 390 Motion by Oouncilman Byrd, seconded by Councilman Park, that ADOPTED Resolution No. 390 adopting budget and approving memorandum of agreement for expenditure of Gas Tax Allocation for major city streets was carried unanaimously. The following bills were ordered paid upon Motion of Councilamn Byrd, seconded by Councilman Park, and carried.
