Wynn, City Clerk SUBJECT: CONSOLIDATION OF SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION ELECTION IN THE 35TH DISTRICT WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL RECOMMENDATION: It is recom~ended that the City Council, at their meeting of February 16, 1982, adopt Resolution No. 82-14 which provides for the consolidation of the Special Primary Election with the General Municipal Election in the 35th Senate District. BACKGROUND: On January 11, 1982, Governor Brown issued an Election Proclamation for a Special Election to be held on May 11, 1982, to fill the vacancy (caused by the resignation of Senator Briggs) in the 35th Senate District. Section 7201 of the Elections Code reads: "A special primary election shall be held in the district in which the vacancy occurred on the fourth Tuesday preceding the day of the special general election at which the vacancy is to be filled. The State legal counsel concurred that if a City is holding a General Municipal Election on April 13, 1982, the Special Primary Election should be consolidated with the General Municipal Election. Wynn City Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 82-14 A ~ESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE 35TH SENATE DISTRICT. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election for the City of Tustin is to be held on Tuesday, April 13, 1982; and WHEREAS, a special primary election to fill a vacancy in the 35th Senate District has been called by the Governor; and 8 WHEREAS, a portion of said Senate District 9 City of Tustin, is located within the 10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 11 1. The above elections are hereby ordered to be consolidated; 12 2. The City Clerk shall conduct the portion of the consolidated election which lies within the city limits; 13 3.
