The reasons stated were: The trees are very messy and drop red berries that stain the sidewalk and her car with a substance that is almost impossible to remove. Background: Notifications were handed out in the neighborhood making them aware of Mrs. Blacks request and giving them l0 days in which to respond in writing if they had any objections to the removal. No objections were received. The trees are Brazilian Peppers, not a desirable tree for parkways as they are quite messy with leaves and flowers, also their growth habit is to have very shallow roots similar to the Ash tree. The trees were planted by the developer when Tustin Meadows was developed. They were not on the City approved tree list. The trees are quite large and the one on the north side of her driveway was planted in less than two feet of the fire hydrant and its roots are involved with the hydrant barrel. Recommendations: I recommend that the trees be removed as requested. The one near the fire hydrant should not be replaced and the other be replaced with a tree from the City approved list, selected by Mrs. Black. These trees are very undesirable because the yellow dust and red berries from those ~rees fall on the sidewalk and my two cars and s~ain them terribly. Aisc, the leaves fall continuomsl~ and they are a mess to clsan up. it is next ro impossible to keep the city sidewalk clean from day to day. Another big problem with the tree on the west side of my driveway is that it is fouling up the fire hydrant apparatus. It is my understanding that the tree should not have been planted there by the hydrant at all. Also, the roots are tearing up the sidewalk. If you could please take care of these trees by removal it will be very ~,~ch aooreciated. I know that you will do all that you can to take care of this problem. Thank you very much:for your help.
