TILLER DAYS COMMITTEE REQUEST
RECOMMENDATION:
Pleasure of the Council; staff concurs with Committee request that a third pole
and appropriate hardware be purchased. $1900. is necessary to fund this request.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
As Council is aware, the Tiller Days Committee was authorized $6000. and staff
assistance at the City Council meeting of February 1, 1982. At that time, a
discussion was held regarding a third electrical/utility pole for the Tiller
Days Street Faire, as two existing power sources were inadequate. Council
directed staff to contact the Edison Company regarding a donation; and, as
Council is aware from a report submitted at the February 16 Council meeting,
Edison is unable to donate this type of equipment.
The pole required is not an electrical pole; it is a telephone-type pole.
Perhaps the Committee could get the pole donated; however this would reduce the
original request by only $100. The $1900. cost is for equipment on the pole,
such as cable, meter boxes, junction boxes, circuit breakers, and other hardware.
This equipment would become the property of the City and would then be available
for use at other functions.
The Committee and staff members have pursued a donation of this equipment to no
avail. While we will continue this pursuit in the hopes that someone will come
forward, it is staff's opinion that the $1900. investment is worthwhile.
